Author & Owner
I grew up in Torrance, California, then attended BYU-Idaho, where I earned a bachelor’s degree in business with an emphasis in finance. When I was 19 and in my second year of college, I developed severe rheumatoid arthritis. Having an incurable disease at an early age gave me a different perspective on life. I married my best friend Mark, and had four beautiful children.
In 2022, at age 36, I discovered a lump in my breast. It was diagnosed as stage 1B breast cancer. I had the full cancer treatment: a double mastectomy, chemotherapy, and radiation.
It was a difficult experience explaining to our young children that I had cancer. We bought a few children’s books to read to them, but I quickly realized that those books weren't exactly what I wanted to share with them. It was then that I knew I needed to write my own children’s books!
Wanting a solid foundation for my stories, I embarked on a two-year journey to start my own business, Ivy Lee. During this time, while still battling cancer, I learned how to establish an LLC, write children’s books, and create products.
Owning my own business has been an incredible journey. I still can’t believe this is my job! I am proud to run a women-owned business as a cancer survivor with lifelong health issues. I am able to help support my family and community, as well as give a unique perspective to all of the stories and products I create. I love bringing meaningful creations into the world that make a difference and bring joy to so many people.
I live in Arizona with my husband, Mark, and our four children. When I'm not dreaming up new products or creating stories, you can find me outside gardening or dancing in my kitchen to Italian restaurant music, 50's oldies, 80's hits, and Christmas music (which should be played all year long!). We have a goldendoodle dog named Katie, and two Mini Rex bunnies, Lilly and Zorro. They love eating zucchini and munching on sticks! (The bunnies do, not our dog Katie…)
Ivy Lee has such an exciting future! I can’t wait to continue to write more children’s books, and design more flower and faith inspired products. I love hearing from kids, parents, educators, and customers!
